Welcome to Landscapes Of The North!

I am so excited to introduce my new website and universe of nature photography! Landscapes Of The North is finally here as my own little brand and the place where I will be sharing everything related to my photography.

This first blog is to introduce the website, share what you can expect, where to find things but also my thoughts on how I intend to use this space going forward. Hope you will read on and enjoy the website - constructive feedback and suggestions are also welcome.

Why “Landscapes Of the North”

For those of you who are curious to know why I chose this as the brand name, here’s the thought process behind it.

I spent quite a bit of time pondering on whether I should just use my name “Alexandra” or an acronym of it (as you all know me as amodov_photograhy on Instagram), I realized that it wouldn’t really tell much about my style or who I am as a photographer.

The name expresses my passion for Nordic nature with its raw and rugged appearance. It is a testament that my photography of the nordic countries is and will be a big part of my style and brand but also that any other photography I do will be inspired by dramatic and moody nature.

My passion for photography started in Denmark, my home country and despite me being Romanian, it was the nature here in the north that truly sparked my interest to do landscape photography. I have since traveled to many places far south but the type of nature I look for remains the same. The epic, otherworldly and moody scenes will always be what I look for in nature and that is why I found this name fitting.

Does this mean that I will only photograph nordic countries, or countries in the northern hemisphere? No. But it does mean that my photography will always be inspired by those types of landscapes, so even if they might not all be from nordic countries, they will share that same feeling you get from nature in the north. It will be epic, powerful, ethereal, otherworldly and mysterious.

What you can find on the website

The Gallery

The gallery is where I share my favorite images I have taken from Denmark and abroad, categorized (for now) on the main subject of the photos.

I will always keep it updated with the latest images and there might be different categorizations coming. For example if I have a strong set of images from one country, I might make a separate section for that.

You can get any image from the gallery as a print, just use the Custom prints section to request one and I will make it happen for you.

The Store

This is where I will share everything that’s for sale. For now, it only holds fine art prints. As you will notice, I have split them into “Single” and “Collections”, the latter being my pre-defined print sets that I’ve put together.

I launched the website with a limited collection of prints, but I will constantly add new prints there so do keep an eye on that section. I will announce when new prints have made it to the store. Printing is something I truly enjoy and the way a photograph comes to life when on paper is really special.

The prints are of the highest quality, printed by myself on my own printer, on archival Hahnemuhle 310 gsm matte paper, signed and with a certificate. They look absolutely beautiful so if you’d like to support me and this small business getting started, buying a print is the perfect way to do it while decorating your home with something unique at the same time. They also make for a perfect gift and I can do gift wrapping as well.

About me

I’ve written a little story and timeline on my photography journey alongside some fun and funny photos to show you a little behind the scenes. Go ahead and check that out and maybe you’ll learn something about me you didn’t know. As always, drop me a message if you’re curious to hear more.

And finally…The Blog

This is where the fun will happen. And hopefully something useful as well :)

I will use this space to share everything from my photography trips in Denmark, tips and tricks that I learn along the way, the adventures from abroad and of course, to showing you some photos!

The most important thing for me with this space will be to use it for providing insights into my experiences, to share my thoughts and the things I learn which will hopefully help you on your photography journey as well, but also on your travels. A big part of doing photography is traveling and I want to share here the things I learn with each trip and how the experience is for me.

Have a topic you’d like me to cover in a blog? Drop me a message here

Thanks so much and hope you enjoy the website!

Love,

Alexandra
